Challenge Cards

Hey Everyone!

It sure has been a long while since I last posted.  I've been really busy going through job interview stuff and traveling for them, but seems like the excitement has settled down a tad bit.

Well, this week I came up with 2 different cards for the challenges I joined.  I have used one of my many card magazines to help create a layout for these cards, but of course making it my very own.

The first card is a 5.5 x 4.25 card I made for Cricut Cardz Challenge #21 (Get Well) and Crafty Creations Challenge #63 (1 designer paper, 1 image and 1 embellishment).  For the card I used medium brown cardstock for the base of my card.  For my designer paper I used a blue poke-a-dotted Basic Grey cardstock at 4.25 x 2.5 and used my Fiskar scallop punch on the top and bottom.  The image I used is a stamped Penny Black "Nature Trail Ted" with jet black Momento ink and hen coloured in with copic stetch markers.  The teddy bear image was stamped on a top-note cut with the Accent Essentials Cricut Cartridge.  After colouring in the image I used my paper piercer and went along the edge of the top-note and then distressed the edge with Tim Holtz broken china distress ink.  I used a chocolate brown ribbon for my embellishment and wrapped it around the designer paper and through my stamped image and finished with a bow.  I used one of the Hero Arts stamp sets to stamp the Get Well Soon saying with black Stazon.

I apologize in advance but I don't remember the designer paper I used for the second card but it is uber cute.

The second card is made for this weeks Paper Cutz Challenge #37 (Tag).  The card is 6 x 6 using cherry red cardstock for the base and a piece of 5.75 x 5.75 medium brown cardstock to use as a contrast colour.  I then cut a piece of 5.5 x 5.5 orange flower designer paper and used my sewing machine to 3-stitch the edges with orange thread and then adhered it to the brown cardstock. Before adhering both the brown and designer paper layer to the card base I cut 2 pieces of 2 inch cherry red ribbon and adhered in to the back of the brown cardstock and wrapped it around and adhered it to the front of the designer paper.  I then cut a piece of 5.5 x 1.75 vanilla cardstock and stamped teddy bear images with black Momento ink and coloured with copic sketch makers.  The stamp set is by Cornish Heritage Farms "Bear Essentials".  I then adhered the vanilla cardtock to a piece of 5.75 x 2 medium brown cardstock and stuck only half of the layered piece with sookwang tape to the designer paper so I could put my circle tags underneath.  To make the tags I used the backside of the designer paper and used a 2 inch circle punch and then used my mini monograms cricut cartridge to cut out a 2.5 inch scallop circle with the cherry red cardstock.  I used my crop-a-dile to set the antique brass eyelets and then I tied pieces of the cherry red ribbon through the eyelets.

Hope you enjoyed.
