Challenge Card

Good Morning Everyone!

This week I made a long card representing Spring time for Cricut Cardz Challenge #16, Paper Cutz Challenge #32 and Crafty Creations Challenges # 58. The only challenge request were from Cricut Cardz to use flowers, birds, butterflies to represent up coming spring and Crafty Creations to make hand made flowers. On my card I made accordion flowers using 12x0.5 strips in both orange cardstock and brown designer cardstock. I then cut a strip 12x1.5 of forest green cardstock and snipped the top with scissors to fray the edge to look like grass. I used a light green cardstock to make the stem and leaves of the flowers. I used both the Wild Card and Designer's Calender cartridges to make the "hello" and "Spring". For the middle of the flowers I put one ivory pearl to give it a little shine.

I hope you liked what I created.

Prima Art Journal

Hey Everyone!

I hope you all are doing really good.

Last night (Thursday, March 11) I watched the Prima show with Marion Smith (http://www.ustream.tv/channel/primaflower) and I was INSPIRED! Inspired to make my own art journal mini. So this morning I headed to one of my local scrapbook stores and bought a whole bunch of Prima Paintables 12x12 sheets (which were on sale for $0.50 each. WOW!). Lets say I went a little crazy. I also picked up 4 glimmer mists I didn't have.
The material I used for this project:3 different 12x12 prima paintables cut to 12x6 length, 6 total (inner pages)
2 6x6 prima paintables (front/back cover)
6 12x12 vanilla cream cardstock cut to 12x6 length, 12 total (2 pieces per 1 prima paintable)
2 6x6 medium weight chipboard1 6x1.5 medium weight chipboard
Black acrylic paint
~3 yards of binging material (I used black jewelry hemp)

The chipboard is to keep the mini protection for the inner pages. Before assembling the mini I painted the chipboard pieces with black acrylic paint (both sides for just the 6x1.5 piece). Then I adhered the 6x6 paintables to the non-painted chipboard pieces. I used Elmers spray adhesive to stick the pieces together. After adhering I used my crocodile to punch small holes along one side of the 6x6 pieces (as many as you think) and then 6 holes on the top and bottom of the 6x1.5 piece and then the same amount of holes used for the sides of the piece as I used for both 6x6 pieces. I then used the hemp string to lace the 6x6 pieces to the 6x1.5 piece. For the inner pages I put 2 12x6 vanilla cream cardstock inside one of the 12x6 prima paintables until all card stock was used up. I then laced the signature pieces to the back binding using the top 6 holes on the 6x1.5 piece.

So that's it. You're done. You just have to customize it to yourself.

I used a watercolour technique that Marion showed using glimmer mist to colour in the paintables. The glimmer mists that I used are as follows:
Wild CurrentPeach Delight
Hula Hoop
Black Gold
Candy Apple Red
Winter Pine
Dewberry
Meadow Green
Snow Angel
Lemon Grass

Sorry the description is fast and vague but if you have any questions just drop me a line and I can try to walk you through it or go to the ustream link and it will take you right to it.

Hope you all enjoyed

Cricut Cardz Challenge #15

Hello Everyone!

Here is my Cricut Cardz Challenge #15 entry for this week. This weeks challenge was a gate fold card of any style.

This weeks card I made a "Thinking of you". This card uses the "Wild Cards" cartridge to make the frame and bird branch image. I also did some blocking using different cuttlebug embossing folders. The cuttlebug embossing folders I used are: Fleur de Lis, Spots and Dots and a floral one (can't remember the name). On the frame I did some faux stitching to make it "pop".

In the inside of the card I just stayed with the theme and stamped 2 birds and a branch with jet black stazon ink.

Thanks for viewing,

xoxo

EXCITEMENT

Hey Everyone!

I am so excited that I'm not quite sure what to do.. Jump for Joy or scream at the top of my lungs "WAHOO!"

I'm sure you are all wondering "why?" and I will tell you. Most Tuesdays and Thursdays I watch the ustream shows with Marion Smith. She is my inspiration in scrapbooking and I love her to bits. But last night in her Prima show I won one of the 3 Prizes and I am SO EXCITED! I can't believe it. I'm not very lucky but I try to be with buying Max Million tickets when the draw gets over 50 Million (which isn't very often). LOL. I am not sure what I won but I will be sure to post everything I got. Maybe even do a little video, but I am very camera shy so we will see. Check back now and then so you can be part of the huge surprise.

Rider's Puppy album

Hey Everyone!

We have a new member of our family! YAY!

His name is Rider and he sure is a cute little guy. He is a pure German Shephard and he is going to be 10 weeks this coming Friday. He is starting to grow so fast. Right now, he is about 22lbs and he is still so little then what he will be.

But, I thought I would welcome him to the family with his own puppy album. I can't remember everything I used, but I'll describe a little after every picture

I did make it look dirty around the edges since all puppies love to play and get in to mischief. And I used a lot of various dog papers, as well as a word album (puppy) kit I found at our local scrapbook store.

Around most edges I did a tearing technique and then used various browns and copper Versa Color inks to make it look grungy. On the binding rings I used to hold the album together I put different coloured ribbons that coordinated with the papers used throughout the album and a sticker charm that says "good dog" on the first page "P" . Also you can see paw prints, which were from a sticker pack I found on clearance.

On the first official ("second page"), I kept it simple with a glitter dog bone sticker and a place to put a picture. The "U" has a corner taken off and roughly filed to make it look like it was bitten at (I thought it looked pretty cute that way).

On the third page I just made a placement for a larger picture (picture of my mom and Rider) and more paw print stickers.

On the fourth page I used a dimensional sticker "WOOF" and a place for a photo. On the back of the third page I made a pocket for journaling tickets. On the pocket I used a rub-on "puppy love" and a large paw print stamp and I used my cricut to cut out Rider's name. The tickets were made out of the dog papers used throughout the album and I used a brad to hold on the different coloured ribbons.

On the fifth and final page of the album I made a placement for a large photo (myself and Rider) and I used a glitter fire hydrant and paw print stickers. On the back of the fourth page I did another pocket for journaling tags.

Hope you all enjoyed viewing. Sorry about not going into major detail, forgive me.

Take care all,

xoxo

Challenges

This week I have made 2 different cards for the challenges I am entering this week with Cricut Cardz #14 and Paper Cutz #30.

The first card is for the Cricut Cardz Challenge #14. The card is a 5" x5" center open St. Patty's day card where I used the Designer's Calender cartridge to make the leprechaun hat and clover, as well as the saying " St. Patrick's Day". On the light green background I used a "happy saint patrick's day" clover stamp with timber brown stazon ink.

My second card is for the Paper Cutz Challenge #30. This week's challenge was for a feminine birthday using a digital or handstamped image of a fairy, pixie, butterfly or bird, and using only the colors pink, green, white, and lavendar or blue.

The card I made is 4.25" x 5.5" on white cardstock. To make this card I downloaded a butterfly image off the internet and used my sketch copic markers to colour it in. I then used my fiskar border punch on the one side and adhered a lavender piece of cardstock to the inside of the card. I used my Accent Essentials Cricut cartridge to cut out the flower and I adhered it to the corner with a stitched button for the center. The "Happy Birthday" stamp was one that I had in my huge collection of stamps, that I stamped with jet black stazon.

Thanks for viewing.
